What is hyaluronic acid (HA)?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found on your skin. As you age, you start to lose HA, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds.

What are the different types of wrinkles?

There are two different types of wrinkles:

. Dynamic wrinkles: are caused when muscles contract to make facial expressions such as smiles and frowns.

. Static wrinkles: develop because our skin’s natural substances (such as collagen and hyaluronic acid), which provide structure and volume, decrease over time.

What is the difference between BOTOX® and JUVÉDERM® XC?

BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM® XC are two possible ways to treat moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. Both are non-surgical, but they work differently:

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic: Injected beneath the skin’s surface to target the underlying muscle activity which is one of the causes of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet. BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily reduce the activity of those muscles.
  • JUVÉDERM® XC: Injected into the skin to temporarily smooth moderate to severe wrinkles such as those around the nose and mouth.*†
What is JUVÉDERM® XC?

JUVÉDERM® XC is a non-surgical filler your doctor uses to instantly smooth out the lines along the sides of your nose and mouth. It can provide natural-looking results for up to a year with optimal treatment. JUVÉDERM® XC is made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA), manufactured using proprietary HYLACROSS™ technology.

How long does treatment usually take?

The injection process can be performed during a brief office visit. You’ll also need to allow time to consult with your doctor prior to treatment. Touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal results. Less gel (about half the amount) is usually needed for repeat injections.

Does the correction last forever?

Correction is temporary and may last up to one year with optimal treatment. Therefore, touch-up injections, as well as repeat injections, are usually needed to maintain optimal results. Less material (about half the amount) is usually needed for repeat injections.

WHAT LASER IS USED FOR TATTOO REMOVAL?

THE MEDLITE C6 Q-SWITCH LASER

HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

Laser energy is gently applied to the skin over the tattooed area. The laser shatters each ink particle into much smaller particles that can be eliminated through your body’s natural process. Through a series of treatments, the tattoo will fade and ultimately disappear.

WILL THE TATTOO DISAPPEAR RIGHT AWAY?

You may notice an immediate fading. Generally tattoo removal will take place in a series of treatments. The number of treatments depends on the color and density of the ink, the age of the tattoo, along with the location on your body.

WHAT DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL FEEL LIKE?

Patients have reported the sensation as comparable to getting a tattoo, but the removal treatment is much faster! For improved comfort, a chiller or cold-roller may be used over the treated area.

IS THERE DOWNTIME FOLLOWING A LASER TATTOO REMOVAL TREATMENT?

Generally, there is no downtime at all. Often, a protective bandage is placed over the laser-treated area and you can continue on with your normal activities.

ARE YOU ABLE TO TREAT ALL TATTOO COLORS?

Yes! Our laser is specialized to treat the full color spectrum including white and black. Some colors are more difficult to treat and may require more sessions.

HOW MUCH DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL COST?

The overall cost will depend on the number of treatments required. That number depends on numerous factors including ink color, density and composition, location on the body, and age of the tattoo.

CAN I REMOVE ONLY PART OF A TATTOO?

Yes. We can customize treatments to fade tattoos to help prep for tattoo cover-ups, and we can remove parts of a tattoo.

IF I’VE ALREADY HAD A LASER TREATMENT SOMEWHERE ELSE, CAN I HAVE MY TATTOO TREATED BY YOUR LASER?

Yes. But, it’s important that we have a consultation to evaluate your tattoo, the level of fading, and plan a course of treatments.

BOTOX FAQ’S

WHAT EXACTLY IS BOTOX COSMETIC?

BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM A BOTOX® COSMETIC TREATMENT?

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results may vary.

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX COSMETIC LAST?

Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

WHO SHOULD ADMINISTER BOTOX COSMETIC?

Any authorized healthcare professional specializing in cosmetic procedures are generally more experienced. One of these physicians can help you decide if BOTOX Cosmetic is right for you.

IS TREATMENT WITH BOTOX COSMETIC PAINFUL?

Many people are in and out of the physicians office without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

WHO SHOULD NOT USE BOTOX COSMETIC?

BOTOX Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

New WILL MY FACIAL EXPRESSIONS CONTINUE TO LOOK NATURAL?

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE FROWN LINES BETWEEN MY BROWS IF I CHOOSE NOT TO CONTINUE TREATMENTS?

If you do not continue treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.

IS BOTOX® COSMETIC AFFORDABLE?

When considering your facial aesthetic options, BOTOX Cosmetic is quite affordable. According to an American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery survey, BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the low-entry-cost facial aesthetic procedures in the United States. Like other appearance-related investments, such as hair coloring and cuts, and chemical peels, the cost must be weighed relative to your expectations. Consult your doctor for further information.

DO TREATMENT RESULTS DIFFER?

To get the best results, it’s important to go to a doctor who is experienced in administering BOTOX® Cosmetic. You may want to consider choosing a doctor from the BOTOX® Cosmetic Physicians’ Network.
